Why D’Andre Swift will bounce back in Week 3: Fantasy outlook for Bears RB

D’Andre Swift has not gotten off to the start he would have hoped with the Chicago Bears and the versatile running back has only 72 total yards across two games. The Bears are arguably a little fortuitous to be 1-1, as their offense has looked very shaky thus far. The good news is that better days could be ahead in Week 3.

With rookie QB Caleb Williams under center and so many new faces on offense, it was perhaps unfair to expect fireworks from the off, but that doesn’t help fantasy football managers.

With time, this will almost certainly improve. D’Andre Swift could benefit from extended drives, a better passing game, and in general, some cleaner offensive line play.

It feels likely that Swift will improve in Week 3 when the Bears take on the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts are 0-2 to start the season but looked poor in Week 2 especially. If Indy’s offense stalls as often as it did against Green Bay, the Bears should see a lot of the ball, which should mean better volume for Swift.

The other real encouragement comes from the Colts’ defense, which allowed Packers RB Josh Jacobs to go for 151 yards. Go back to Week 1, and we saw Joe Mixon go for 159 yards and a TD on the ground (+19 receiving).

D’Andre Swift hasn’t really seen much competition for touches, with Travis Homer (out), Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson all seeing minimal snaps. Chicago should put in a cleaner offensive display, and Swift will be a major part of that. Expect him to comfortably surpass his lowly 6.20-point projections (HPPR).

What numbers to expect from D’Andre Swift in Week 3?

Oddsmakers have the totals for the Bears-Colts game at around 44 points and the prop for D’Andre Swift’s total yardage is 74.5 yards. Factor in that Chicago will surely be factoring in some checkdowns for Caleb Williams to get this offense moving, and even if Swift doesn’t find the endzone, he should be looking at a floor of around 8 points.

Swift is seen to have an even shot at a touchdown and given the Colts’ issues with RBs thus far, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him get on the board here. Swift could have a very high floor in this game, so should be started at least in the flex, unless you have a truly elite trio of RBs.
