Saquon Barkley headlined the Philadelphia Eagles’ offseason additions, and the former New York Giant is set to play something of the villain role against his former side. That certainly feels unjust, as the Giants didn’t exactly treat Barkley well or attempt to keep him in New York, but that will be a storyline in 2024.
Barkley is one of the most talented backs in the NFL and if it weren’t for the “tush-push” and Jalen Hurts’ 15 rushing TDs in 2023, would be a sure-fire, late first-round pick. Last year, D’Andre Swift was limited to 5 TDs in 16 games with the Eagles, and this is a concern for Saquon Barkley in 2024. With that in mind, Barkley is a late-second or early third-round pick in fantasy (depending on how big your league is), and could be a source of great frustration for fantasy managers in 2024.
Saquon Barkley’s 2024 NFL fantasy outlook: What numbers to expect from the Eagles RB?
Saquon Barkley has the talent to put up a lot of fantasy points in 2024, but the concern is Jalen Hurts taking the lion’s share of rushing TDs. Barkley is a two-way threat given his receiving abilities, so should get the volume to put up at least a solid floor.
Given the concerns about red-zone TDs, it’s hard to see him totaling 12+ TDs in 2024. Barkley has had some serious injuries in the past, particularly in 2020, missed three games last campaign, and has not played a full season since his rookie campaign in 2018. With that in mind, it feels likely that he will miss at least one game in 2024, whether due to injury or a late-season rest.
Saquon Barkley rushed for 962 yards and 6 TDs in 2023, adding a further 280 yards and 4 TDs through the air. Given the Giants’ disappointing season, and issues on offense, this is no small feat.
Considering the above, 1,100 yards and 7 TDs on the ground, with an additional 350 yards and 3 TDs receiving, seems a fair expectation, presuming Barkley plays at least 15 games.
Other fantasy outlooks for running backs: Bijan Robinson, Aaron Jones, Najee Harris & Josh Jacobs.
