Kyler Murray has been on something of a downward trend over the past few years, and he missed much of the 2023 NFL season recovering from an ACL injury. After his return in Week 10, Murray put up some solid numbers for the Arizona Cardinals, but given the nature of his knee injury, his value as a running QB has declined in fantasy football.

That said, Murray finished the 2023 season with 1,799 yards passing, 10 TDs and 5 INTs to his name, to go along with 244 yards and 3 TDs on the ground. This is certainly promising, and Murray managed to climb into the QB26 spot on the season after playing only 7 games.

Where to take Murray depends very much on your draft plan. When it comes to QBs, some love to take the man they want early, but this is not always the best policy. The point differential between a top QB and a good one is often less than you see in other positions, so holding for a top QB can become something of a standoff in some drafts.

When the QBs do start to fall in your draft, you might be tempted to jump the gun, but you should be safe to wait until the sixth round or later for Kyler Murray. This is a solid place to land a QB in general, and while the Cardinals’ offense isn’t exactly star-studded, Murray is a lot better than people give him credit for.

Kyler Murrays’ 2024 NFL fantasy outlook: What numbers to expect from the Cardinals QB?

Kyler Murray has the potential to dominate in 2024, especially as the Cardinals used their early draft pick (No. 4) to take generational WR talent Marvin Harrison Jr. to boost their offense. It would be dangerous to expect Murray to use his legs to the same extent as he did in years past, but 500 rushing yards and 4 TDs seems a solid estimate for his ground production.

A lot has been said about Murray’s height causing him trouble seeing over the line (5-foot-10), but he does have a penchant for slipping out of the pocket and evading blitzers. His passing game is solid, and if he can utilize TE Trey McBride in the same way as he did last season and find some chemistry with Harrison, Murray can be counted on in fantasy football.

Kyler Murray projects to have a solid floor of around 17 fantasy points per game, with a ceiling of perhaps 25 every now and then. This puts him in the upper echelons of QBs and if the Cardinals can protect him/he can stay healthy, 3,700 yards and 22 TDs seem plausible.
