Jalen Hurts has exploded onto the fantasy scene with the Philadelphia Eagles over the past few seasons and projects to be one of the top quarterbacks in 2024 drafts. As previous owners of Eagles running backs can attest, Hurts is a menace around the goalline, as Philadelphia will happily barrel him into the endzone nine times out of 10.
With Hurts having some top weapons to aim at and the running game to make deep moves down the field, he can be the difference-maker in any given fantasy matchup. Where you should draft him is a bit trickier, and depends on your plan for the draft and league size.
If you are looking to go QB early, you should be able to wait until the second round for Jalen Hurts, but given how few others can match his totals in his position, he could be the first quarterback off the board. Some might prefer Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen, but regardless, Hurts will almost certainly be taken among the top five QBs in drafts.
If you aren’t planning on going for a QB early, and you see Hurts available in the third or fourth, you should pick him up, as his upside is too great to ignore.
Jalen Hurts’ 2024 NFL fantasy outlook: What numbers to expect from the Eagles QB?
Given that Jalen Hurts is yet to have a 4,000-yard passing season, it would be unprecedented to predict one in 2024, even if he has come close a few times. In 2023, Hurts threw for 3,858 yards, 23 TDs and 15 INTs, and while that may not look so impressive, he has seen his number of TDs improve every season.
However, we all know that it’s on the ground where Hurts wins fantasy games. With 2,503 yards and 41 TDs across 62 games (51 starts), Hurts is a menace to contain. Last season, Hurts rushed for 605 yards and 15 TDs, an incredible number.
Considering the Eagles lost an integral part of the ‘tush-push’ with Jason Kelce retiring (and teams likely spending a lot of time working out counters), we may see a decline in Jalen Hurts’ rushing touchdowns in 2024. That said, another 500 yards and 10 TDs seems a solid baseline on the ground, to go along with 3,800 yards and 22 TDs through the air.
