D’Andre Swift is one of the multiple weapons the Chicago Bears have in place for Caleb Williams, and given the moves they have made in the offseason the Bears offense could see a renaissance in 2024.
The Bears have Khalil Herbert as their RB2, and given Swift’s injury history there are some concerns about drafting him too early in NFL fantasy. That said, with a rookie QB under center, Chicago will look to run the ball a lot, and given that they have D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen, Rome Odunze and Cole Kmet as weapons in the passing game, defenses can’t be too aggressive against the run.
Swift projects to be an RB1 with both considerable risk and upside, and looks like a safe pick in the third round (10+ league size). Anywhere higher seems a reach given his injury history (missed 11 games in 4 seasons) and the fact that the Bears have such a capable backup in Herbert, who will likely cut into Swift’s volume.
D’Andre Swift’s 2024 NFL fantasy outlook: What numbers to expect from the Bears RB?
Given that D’Andre Swift has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career, it’s hard to predict him playing 17 games in 2024. That said, he has flashed his potential during his time in the NFL and is a threat in the passing game as well.
In 2023 with the Philadelphia Eagles, Swift rushed for 1,049 yards and 5 TDs, adding 214 yards and 1 TD through the air. Now, these stats almost need an asterisk next to them, as while Swift only missed one game, with the ball on the goalline the Eagles went straight to Jalen Hurts, rather than punching it in with the RB. Hurts rushed for 15 TDs in 2023, and the majority of those were from within 2 yards.
That doesn’t mean Swift will be in for a huge season TD-wise, as the 2024 Bears are unlikely to have the offensive production of the 2023 Eagles. With that in mind, 1,100 yards on the ground and 7 rushing TDs should be complemented by 400 receiving yards and a further 3 TDs, presuming Swift plays at least 15 games.
