The Tennessee Titans have not had much luck this season, and after a 52-14 defeat to the Detroit Lions in Week 8, are 1-6 and bottom of the AFC South. While their issues winning games are giving fans a miserable experience, Tennesee players are still important pieces in fantasy football.
The Titans look to pick themselves up in Week 9, where they take on the 2-6 New England Patriots. The Patriots have found themselves amid a similarly disappointing season, and both teams will see this as a winnable game.
Let’s take a look at Tennessee’s main fantasy weapons in Week 9:
Titans’ Week 9 Fantasy Outlooks
QBs: Will Levis, Mason Rudolph
Mason Rudolph appears set to relinquish the starting QB role to Will Levis for the game against New England and we are approaching a point where Levis is playing for his career. The Titans are projecting to be an early pick in the 2025 NFL draft and if Levis doesn’t improve dramatically, he could be replaced.
Meanwhile, Rudolph has looked fairly solid in Tennessee and appears set to be a good career backup. Regardless of who starts under center in Week 9, you should not be starting a Titans QB in fantasy football.
Levis is questionable for the game with his ongoing shoulder issue, but his proclivity for turnovers and lack of touchdowns makes him a target for defensive streamers rather than managers looking for a QB (5 TDs, 7 INTs, 3 FMBLs).
Will Levis’ points range: 6-15, Prediction: 12
RBs: Tony Pollard & Tyjae Spears
Tony Pollard has done an admirable job of replacing Derrick Henry as the RB1 in Tennessee, and while he does split carries with Tyjae Spears, Pollard is clearly the lead back. Pollard is the main RB threat in fantasy football and should start in almost any lineup as an RB2.
However, he is questionable for Week 9 and if he is ruled out, the situation becomes trickier. Spears has been ruled out of Sunday’s game, which certainly makes Pollard even more inviting. If neither can go on Sunday, Julius Chestnut will get the RB1 role and should be started as something of a mystery RB2/flex option.
Whichever back gets the lead role against the New England Patriots is a good start, as this feels like a running back-dominated game for both sides.
Tony Pollard’s points range (Julius Chestnut if Pollard is out): 8-22, Prediction: 14.5
WRs: Calvin Ridley, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine & Tyler Boyd
Calvin Ridley is coming off his best performance with the Tennesee Titans, catching 10 passes from 15 targets for 143 yards and 17.60 points in HPPR leagues. This comes after some discussion about his usage and Ridley could breakout in the remaining weeks of the season.
However, the switch at QB to Will Levis could be damaging for Ridley, so starting him is still something of a risk. He certainly has flex value, but has a scarily low floor to match his high ceiling.
Meanwhile, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine has started to see his fantasy stock rise, having touchdowns in back-to-back games. The issue is that if he does not get a TD, his floor is extremely low, so he is a big gamble for relatively small returns.
Tyler Boyd has not seen the volume to warrant a fantasy start, having a season-high of 6.80 points in HPPR leagues, and should be avoided in Week 9.
Calvin Ridley’s points range: 4-21, Prediction: 10.5
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine’s points range: 0-12, Prediction: 5.5
TE: Chig Okonkwo
Chig Okonkwo is not seeing enough volume to warrant picking up in fantasy football, with 17 receptions for 121 yards and 1 TD to his name in 2024. After two receptions for 14 yards and a fumble lost against Detroit, he cannot be started in fantasy here.
Chig Okonkwo,’s points range: 0-10, Prediction: 4
