The 0-3 Tennessee Titans are yet to really get going in the 2024 NFL season, but there are signs of life in their offense, albeit not as frequent as fans would wish. Receivers Calvin Ridley and DeAndre Hopkins have shown flashes of brilliance, and RBs Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears are both potential options in the right matchup.

In Week 4, the Titans face a team with its own set of unique problems, as the Miami Dolphins looked anemic on offense with Skylar Thompson under center. With no movement at signing/trading for a new QB, the Dolphins are set to start Thompson (Q), Tim Boyle or Tyler Huntley.

This is a real opportunity for Tennessee, and a 3 TD night should be enough to get in the win column on Monday. Let’s take a look at the Titans’ weapons in Week 4:

Titans QB Fantasy Outlook: Will Levis

Will Levis is anything but a solid pick in fantasy football at present. Levis had his best performance of the season in the defeat to the Green Bay Packers, going for 13.60 points off 260 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs. He is too risky to start here and should be kept on your bench in case of emergency or better form.

Titans RBs Fantasy Outlooks: Tony Pollard & Tyjae Spears

Running back production was always going to be a concern in Tennessee, as following in the footsteps of a franchise legend like Derrick Henry is tough. The Titans went a different way, with smaller backs that can threaten in the passing game more than Henry.

This hasn’t paid off so much just yet, but with Tennessee in something of a rebuild, that was to be expected. At this stage, both Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears are risky starts. Pollard is an RB2/flex in big leagues, but he carries significant risk.

The issue is that the Titans split the carries and do not score enough TDs to make these two safe starts. While Pollard recorded 16.90 points in Week 1 (HPPR), he has declined each week since (12.70, 4.40). Meanwhile, Spears is not seeing the volume to be a credible starter unless in desperate circumstances. Keep him on your bench in case of injury or breakout form.

Titans WRs Fantasy Outlooks: Calvin Ridley & DeAndre Hopkins

Tennessee has an elite WR room in Calvin Ridley and DeAndre Hopkins, although many would argue the two are declining. The issue appears to be that the Titans are not seeing elite QB play and are almost taking it in turns to go big every week. This is shown in their numbers:

  • Ridley: 6.50, 22.70, 1.40
  • Hopkins: 1.30, 1.40, 16.30

Essentially, two big displays from six is not WR1 material, and these are WR2/flex options that carry significant boom-bust potential every week. Either could go big but with Levis’ current form, neither is more likely than both. It’s effectively a coin toss and you should be prepared for both triumph and defeat if you gamble on them.

Realistically, you would be better passing this headache on to another manager, and seeing if you can get a WR1 in poor form who could break out would be advisable. Suggestion: Have a look at someone like Christian Kirk in a trade.
