Javonte Williams has been trending in the right direction in the last two weeks after a poor start to the 2024 NFL season. The Denver Broncos running back started the season with a 2.80-point opening day (HPPR), and after hitting 9 points went down to 4.10.
Steady improvements in the last two games have seen the RB hit 80 and 111 scrimmage yards respectively, and if Williams can start getting in the endzone he would be a useful piece in fantasy football. However, that is yet to happen in 2024.
Whether Week 6 against the LA Chargers is the game that will happen is the real question. While the Chargers are No. 9 against running backs in fantasy, they are No. 6 when it comes to opponent rushing yards per game.
While Williams is the RB1 in Denver, Jaleel McLaughlin is getting enough volume to be a concern and also scored a touchdown in Week 5. Realistically, it would be better to keep Williams on your bench this week. He has not shown reliable RB2 quality yet and there may be better flex options at WR if you were thinking of using him as a flex option.

What numbers to expect from Javonte Williams in Week 6?
Javonte Williams looks to have a solid enough floor and as gambles go, seems safer than many. His Week 1 disappointment feels like an anomaly and only a poor game script or injury can really stop him from getting at least 6 points against Los Angeles.
Fantasy.nfl.com projects Williams to get 10.21 points in HPPR leagues, which feels dead center between his ceiling with a TD and floor without one. If he fails to get in the endzone, 10 points seems unlikely against a tough Chargers team.
The odds of Williams getting into the endzone are being set by bookmakers at around +165, which reflects the risk in starting him in Week 6.
Javonte Williams’ points range: 5-16; Prediction 8.5
