Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season sees a potential revenge game as Andy Dalton leads the Carolina Panthers against his old team, the Cincinnati Bengals. Dalton breathed new life into a faltering offense last week, leading Carolina to a vastly improved display and its first win of the season. Can you trust the Panthers’ stars against the Bengals?

Andy Dalton’s Week 4 Fantasy Outlook

Andy Dalton threw for 319 yards and 3 TDs in the Panthers’ 36-22 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, and with the number of QBs either underperforming or injured, is a valid streamer target.

Dalton has displayed good chemistry in minimal game-time in Carolina, and while WR2 Adam Theilen has landed on the IR, has WR1 Diontae Johnson to rely on, as well as a resurgent running game.

Dalton put up 24.56 points in Week 3 and is projected a lowly 13.90 here. If you are a little lost at QB you can start Andy Dalton against a faltering Bengals defense that has shipped 64 points in two games.

The question here is whether you think the Panthers will revert to their previous offensive woes, which seems unlikely. Expect them to be less explosive than against LV but put up 17+ points. Dalton looks set for two passing TDs as Carolina could cause the Bengals problems in what looks like a must-win game for Cincinnati.

Chuba Hubbard’s Week 4 Fantasy Outlook

Chuba Hubbard silenced a lot of his critics against Las Vegas and after putting up 25.40 points (HPPR) has made a claim for a starting role in fantasy football. The worry is that trusting the Panthers on the back of one game is a risk, and the Bengals at 0-3 are going to be taking no prisoners here.

Hubbard seems unlikely to repeat his 169 scrimmage yards in Week 4, but he could get another TD and have value as an RB2/flex if you are hit by injuries. While he dominates the touches in Carolina, there is always the worry of RB2 Miles Sanders getting a TD, as he did against the Raiders.

Hubbard is projected 10.19 points (HPPR), so unless you have a very talented receiver corps or are in a small league with decent free agent options, he should be started as at least a flex option.

Diontae Johnson’s Week 4 Fantasy Outlook

This is sort of a bittersweet good-news, bad-news situation at the time of writing. The bad news is that Diontae Johnson did not practice on Thursday and has a hamstring concern. However, it is unlikely to stop him playing on Sunday, as he told reporters.

Now for the bittersweet good news. Diontae Johnson looks set to be the chief beneficiary of two recent developments in Carolina. First, as was on display in Week 3, the benching of QB Bryce Young for Andy Dalton. Second, Adam Thielen hit the IR after suffering a “severe hamstring injury” while scoring a TD, leaving Johnson very much the main receiver.

While Xavier Legette and Trey Mingo will step up, they are not reliable starts yet, whereas Johnson is building on a 122-yard and 1 TD performance. With that in mind, Johnson should be started as a WR2 or flex.

Desperation pick: WR Xavier Legette, point range 3-12 points.
