Can Anthony Richardson do it again in Week 2? Colts QB’s fantasy outlook explored

Can Anthony Richardson do it again in Week 2? (image credit: Indianapolis Colts/Instagram)

Anthony Richardson had an injury-hit 2023 NFL season, but when he was on the field he looked electric. The Indianapolis Colts are confident they have found their QB1 after struggling in the position for several years.

Week 1 in 2024 saw Richardson throw for 212 yards and 2 touchdowns (1 INT) against the Houston Texans, as well as rushing for 56 yards and another TD. This was worth 26.08 points in fantasy, good enough for the QB4 rank on the week.

Anthony Richardson is in a prime spot to do it again in Week 2, as the Colts face the Green Bay Packers, who look set to be without Jordan Love. Green Bay starting Malik Willis (presumably) could result in a lower-scoring matchup, but Richardson is a must-start regardless.

Indy’s offense looks capable of scoring on anyone and the Packers shipped 34 points to the Eagles in Week 1.

What numbers to expect from Anthony Richardson in Week 2?

While predicting someone to hit 26 points is tough, Anthony Richardson has the running game to make up for any issues passing. Expect to see Richardson run for at least 40 yards, and if the chips are down on the goalline he is willing to take risks.

This was an issue in 2023, as Richardson had to be pulled from three of four games started and was then shut down for the season. Richardson got into the endzone in Week 1 rushing the ball, and is a prime contender to do so today at Lambeau Field.

Week 2 bounce-back candidates:  Drake London, Evan Engram, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Javonte Williams.

Baseline expectations for the exciting QB should be 220 yards and 2 TDs passing, as well as 40 yards on the ground. Richardson feels like a coin toss for a rushing TD, and the same odds to throw an INT as well (5 career starts, 2 INTs). The good news is that Richardson has a higher ceiling than this and could well be in for another banner week.
