Javonte Williams had a very disappointing start to the 2024 season in NFL fantasy. Williams rushed the ball eight times for 23 yards and caught one pass for no gain. In HPPR leagues he recorded 2.80 points, which likely cost thousands of managers in tight matches to start the campaign.
Williams is a prime candidate for a Week 2 bounce-back, but facing the Pittsburgh Steelers defense could be a tough task for Denver. The worry here is that if the Steelers’ offense can start to score touchdowns (after 0 in Week 1), the Broncos might struggle to respond and a poor game script would see Williams being overlooked again.
However, with the Steelers’ offense looking a bit anemic and Bo Nix’s NFL debut out of the way, this feels to be a tight, albeit low-scoring, game. This is why Javonte Williams could be in for a bigger day.
Other Week 2 bounce-back candidates: Drake London, Evan Engram and Marvin Harrison Jr.
What numbers to expect from Javonte Williams in Week 2?
The issue fantasy managers are going to have to come to terms with is that Javonte Williams has a low floor (as seen in Week 1) and a fairly limited ceiling. Realistically, Williams is unlikely to score multiple TDs in a game and will likely not break 10 in 2024 (having only 12 total in his career thus far).
If this is a low-scoring game or Denver takes a lead, Williams should see an increase in touches and volume means points. He is as likely as anyone in the Broncos’ offense to score a TD and the only way he fails to meet his projections of 8.02 points (HPPR) is if the Steelers do come out firing.
8-15 points feel like Javonte Williams’ range in Week 2, and he should break 10 points here.
