It’s Week 11 of the 2024 NPIFL season and after 10 rounds of games, we finally have a standout Super Bowl favorite. Standing at 8-2, You are in Chubble have gone from contenders to clear favorites for the NPIFL’s greatest prize, and it will be interesting to see if they can manage it.
Before we get to the roundup, Nathan went 3-3 on his Pix in Week 10, bringing his season totals to 26-34. Meanwhile, the Best Bench of the Week award went to the WWC with 55.84 points, a remarkable feat given their tremendous day on the field.
NPIFL Week 10 Roundup
San Wrexham 49ers (7-3) 131.80 – 142.22 Old England Pats (5-5)
The 49ers came away with the L in Week 10 after a hard-fought and explosive battle against the Pats. What’s crazy is that San Wrexham’s 131.80 points was the NPIFL’s fifth-best score, which goes to show the volatility of the league this season.
With big days from Josh Allen (18.20), Joe Mixon (16.00), Amon-Ra St. Brown (16.00), James Connor (19.80) and the Vikings defense (13), the 49ers will not be too unhappy with what they saw. At 7-3, they are very much in control of their own destiny and a playoff spot is looking likely.
Meanwhile, Old England will be delighted with the win, as 5-5 looks a lot rosier than 4-6 and the product on the field was spectacular. Brock Purdy led by example with 23.82 points under center, while Bijan Robinson’s 27.90 points proved decisive. Jauan Jennings (14.80), Sam LaPorta (16.10), Austin Ekeler (17.60) and DB Kenny Moore (11.20) were the other standouts on a great team performance.
Pats HC Aminul Hassan summed up his win:
“Jason Sanders… our signing of the season!”
In Week 11, San Wrexham travels to face the Leviathans, while the Pats look to build on their win against The Love Train.
Eagles Raid Steelers (2-8) 142.82 – 149.08 Lloyds Leviathans (5-5)
The ERS saw the biggest Thursday night performance in NPIFL history, with Joe Burrow (33.62), Ja’Marr Chase (49.90), Mark Andrews (15.80) and Justin Tucker (3.00) combining for 102.32 points.
However, in true 2024 ERS fashion, they mismanaged their team and fielded players on byes or otherwise ineligible, which cost them dearly here. While they tried to get it done with a Monday night panic addition, it was too late and there were enough points on the bench to get the win. This loss effectively eliminated the team from Super Bowl contention, a bitter blow for the fanbase.
Meanwhile, the Leviathans will be delighted with their win, and the stars certainly had to align for them to achieve it. The perfect storm of Cowboys chaos was the difference, with Lloyds feasting both offensively and defensively from the matchup.
Jalen Hurts (29.6), A.J. Brown (13.40) and the Eagles D (20) came up in the clutch vs. Dallas, while Courtland Sutton (16.00), Rachaad White (16.00), George Kittle (13.20), Harrison Butker (10) and Nnamdi Madubuike (12) all broke 10 points.
ERS HC Dan Gittins spoke to NFLFQS after the game:
“You can’t write it… I’d have beaten everyone else… Scoring high… Losing matchups.. take me out to the pasture.”
The Leviathans now prepare to host the 49ers, while the ERS travel to face a Tyreek or Treat that looks out of contention for both bowl brackets.
YAI Chubble (8-2) 119.30 – 78.98 St. Lewis Rams (6-4)
You are in Chubble threw down the gauntlet in Week 10 and delivered a slam-dunk win over the Metro-leading Rams. St. Lewis has lost two games in a row and has struggled since HC Lewis Done declared how nice it was being 4-1, and the skies have definitely darkened above the “Gateway to the West.”
The Rams put up the NPIFL’s second-worst score in Week 10, and were one of the two teams not to score a single touchdown this week. Jonathan Taylor still had a solid day, (14.20) as did kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn (13), but no one else really showed up.
Meanwhile, Chubble did a thoroughly professional job, and while they would have lost to five NPIFL teams in Week 10, they had the fortune of playing St. Lewis. As is becoming a weekly report, Lamar Jackson (32.90) and Derrick Henry (13.60) combined for over 45 points, and from there, George Pickens (19.00) and Terry McLaurin (13.80) did the rest.
Chubble HC Oliver Bailey told NFLFQS after the game:
“After a challenging week last week, we have successfully overcome our difficulties and revitalized our spirit. Pickens demonstrated his exceptional ability this weekend; based on previous performances, I would say he is indeed pickens up the pieces in preparation for the restart.
“With only a few games remaining, it is crucial that we do not become entangled in psychological games with other managers. A wise individual once advised me that if you wish to defeat someone, you must do so on the pitch. With this mindset, we will see how far we can progress.”
Rams HC Lewis Done spoke to NFLFQS on Wednesday:
“Another tough result in a run of very tough opponents that have been outperforming their ExP but we move.
“Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together. And as we continue to get players back from IR we’re hopeful of getting close to full strength in time to make a run for the playoffs later in the season.
“The secret of getting ahead is getting started, and our early season was fantastic – we’ll get back to that as we get our players back.
“Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome – people are quick to forget this franchise won the Super Bowl with a losing season. We’ve been in worse places and so are a lot of teams (right now). Out leave.”
Chubble now looks to become the first team with a winning record to topple the WWC in 2024, while the Rams look to stop the bleeding against the O’s.
Brymbo Storm (6-4) 82.04 -132.88 WWC (4-6)
The Brymbo Storm was the other team in the NPIFL not to score a TD in Week 10, and HC John Maxwell went through the five stages of grief on Sunday night (denial, anger, bargaining, depression & acceptance).
Somehow, the Storm would have beaten two other teams this week, but they certainly deserved the L they got. 13.40 points from Alvin Kamara and 11.50 from Cooper Kupp were not enough and while there was plenty of volume seen around the team, the lack of endzone activity was a killer for Brymbo.
Meanwhile, the WWC put up some massive points on a day that saw their favorite son, Christian McCaffrey, make his debut for the team. After missing 9 games, CMC got plenty of touches, totaling 107 yards from scrimmage for 13.70 points. Expect to see him in the endzone in Week 11.
James Cook (15.00), Drake London (16.70), Chuba Hubbard (22.90), Tyler Bass(12) and the Bills D (19) were all big scorers in Week 10, which helped inject some optimism into the WWC’s disappointing 2024 offense (11th for points scored with 1,071.76).
Victorious HC Chris Ward spoke to NFLFQS John Maxwell:
“I tried my best to make it easy for the Storm. I even dropped Murray for the first time this season, so my win didn’t even include his 30-point haul.“
Storm HC John Maxwell told NFLFQS:
“Watching us play today had me in denial, angry, bargaining, depressed and finally, I have come to accept that it just wasn’t our day. Next week will be different and I expect points to rain down from a Stormy sky.”
The Storm will take on Santos XI next with both teams looking to climb back into the playoff discussion, while the WWC looks to McCaffrey to lead them to victory against YAIC.
The Love Train (6-4) 98.80 – 94.34 Santos XI (5-5)
The Love Train and Santos XI are two old playoff foes, and TLT escaped from a low-scorer with a very important win. The Love Train hopped into the playoff spots at No. 4 via points scored and will be looking to put in a bigger day next week.
TLT scored just the one TD in Week 10, so for them to still win was quite impressive when you think about it. Breece Hall (10.30), Dan Jones (13.20), Aaron Jones (11.10), Deebo Samuel (10.10), Puka Nacua (15.30) and Budda Baker (10.50) were the keys to victory for the franchise.
Meanwhile, XI fans will doubtless be wondering how they failed to win the match, although looking at the scores the answer is plain. Now in a Patrick Mahomes-less QB wonderland, Santos signed and started Aaron Rodgers, whose 4.04 points may be a personal worst for the Jets quarterback.
Meanwhile, David Montgomery did his usual thing, getting a TD and breaking 10 points (14.10), as Chase Brown had a good day on TNF vs. Baltimore (17.90). Kicker Jake Moody was the only other player to hit 10 points, scoring 11 on a day where he missed three field goal attempts.
Love Train driver Damen Griffiths told us:
“Good to get a win in the bag and put that week behind us. A tough slog against an objectively poor team, and I’m not surprised that losing that game has sent Faulkner into a raging stupor. Hopefully, he can get control of his emotions for the run-in, it’s not nice to see a fellow champion acting so erratically when calm heads are needed if he wants to make the playoffs.”
Santos HC Christopher Faulkner had some sage advice for other teams amid a QB crisis:
“Don’t pick a QB old enough to be your dad.”
The next stop for the Love Train is a cross-country journey to the Old England Pats, while the XI travel to Brymbo to face the Storm.
Brymbo Originals (5-5) 93.74 – 58.28 Tyreek or Treat (1-9)
The Brymbo Originals are the hottest team in the NPIFL (sort of), although you wouldn’t know it from Week 10. While the O’s have won five in a row and are looking to sweep the entire Metro division, they were lucky to escape Week 10 with a win.
Brymbo would have lost to eight NPIFL teams in Week 10, but Tyreek or Treat was not one of them. ToT had a nightmare day, with only Tyreek Hill breaking 10 points (10.20). This was one of the worst showings in NPIFL history, with the record being held by the Leviathans in their sole postseason appearance in 2023 (40.40 points).
The O’s took the win on the back of some okay displays, with Baker Mayfield (12.34), Kareem Hunt (13.50), Joshua Downs (12.70) and the newly acquired Marvin Harrison Jr. (13.90), while Brian Branch also hit the 10 point marker.
O’s HC Nathan Adams told NFLFQS:
“So Week 10 was exactly what the O’s needed. It wasn’t a pretty win but it puts us 5-5 and now gives us a chance at the playoffs.”
While ToT manager Jordan Clough was unavailable for official comment, NFLFQS spoke to him off the record and he is hopeful Week 11 may see not just the end of the losing streak, but the start of the redemption tour.
The O’s look to extend their winning streak to an incredible six games in Week 11, where they will face the Metro leading Rams, while Tyreek or Treat look to end their miserable run of form against the ERS.
